Barcelona Harley Days 2011 ~ Harley Davidson + BCN = A Perfect Match

Barcelona Harley Days 2011

This weekend, Barcelona was full to the brim with bold and beautiful Harley Davidson Motorcycles for the 2011 Barcelona Harley Days event held at Montjuic. Barcelona Harley Days was spread over the 8th, 9th and 10th of July 2011 and saw thousands of Harley Davidson Motorcycle fanatics get together to see new Harley Davidson bikes on display and of course, older bikes being shown off by their owners. Barcelona Harley Days really does seem to be one of the most important Harley Davidson events/celebrations in Europe at the moment.

Music & Machines

Of course, no Harley Davidson event would be complete without some decent heavy metal  music and there were stages set up around the event, performing their chunky, hard hitting guitar riffs. It really was an awsome day for all who are in love with Harley Davidson bikes and culture. Below is the beautiful Harley Sportster, by far my favourite Harley Davidson, it's got that lowrider/bomber style and an aggressive riding position. Perfect for  cruising through the long Barcelona streets.

Husqvarna Nuda 900R ~ The Future of BMW?

Husqvarna's New Nuda 900R ~ The Naked Bike Everyone is Talking About.

The Husqvarna Nuda 900R seems to be all over the place at the moment, and what really astonishes me is that I've never even heard of Husqvarna. The Nuda 900R, although it doesn't look like it, houses a monstrous 900cc, 100bhp engine producing 73lbft of torque. Impressive stats but not so surprising to hear that the engine is a tweaked version of the BMW 800cc parallel twin. Husqvarna is owned by BMW and I would imagine they are using the company as a tool to access the younger motorcycle riding market.

After all, BMW GS1200s are hardly the first choice of 18 year old riders. With stock Brembo monoblock calipers, I can see the Husqvarna Nuda 900R being a massive sensation in Barcelona and Spain in general. It's got that agile naked motard look and the power to snake through the city traffic.

Husqvarna Nuda900R - A Heavy Weight Rival?

It's main competitor I guess would be the KTM DUKE or the Ducati Hypermotard. Either of which I would prefer to the Husqvarna Nuda 900R, but maybe that's because I'm too old school to go for a brand I don't know about. In fact, it was only when I heard that Husqvarna are related to BMW that I took them seriously. 

Next time you take your relaxing Sunday ride, be prepared to see young guns cutting you up on Husqvarna Nuda 900Rs, don't hate them, we are all bike nuts at the end of the day.

I don't understand why these bike companies spend all this money on R&R, produce beautiful bikes and then make some amateur video to launch the bike into the market, anyway, here is a glimpse. The Fourth of July ~ American Independence Day - What is it?

The Fourth of July ~ 4th of July

My first Fourth of July party – I remember back in 1998, my best friend, Edward, and his family moved to America. I was heart broken, we’d been best friends since the age of 7 years old and it was like losing a brother. However, the following summer, his family invited me to stay with them at their new house in America. I was 15 years old and could hardly say no.

I arrived in America and met them at the airport, Edward was a little older than me so he was already driving, I was so jealous. We spent all our time riding around America, eating fast food and trying to do as many “American” things as possible. After a week or so, one of Ed’s friends invited us to a Fourth of July party, apparently is was a big deal but we had never heard of it. We didn’t care what this “Interdependence day party” was about, we just wanted to go to an American party.

What is Independence Day/4th of July?

We turned up and found hundreds of Americans enjoying a barbecue and taking in the sunshine. American kids were running around and playing in the street, everybody was happy and making the most of “The Fourth of July”. But we were confused. In Britain, the 4th of July is just another day, it holds no special significance.

“OH NO!, We were two British boys at a party full of Americans, celebrating their Independence day from our country.”

Our friend at the party, Arien, told us that Independence day celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Basically, Independence from the United Kingdoms of Great Britain. “OH NO!!” We were two British boys at a party full of Americans, celebrating their Independence day from our country and we felt very self conscious all of a sudden. “Should we leave?” “Should we pretend to be American?”. It was a funny situation, but in general, nobody cared that we were British. It’s basically just a day to have fun, eat good food and watch fireworks. I’ve NEVER seen such an amazing firework display and the image of a dark sky filled with roaring fireworks will stay with me forever. Actually, it’s a little bit like the San Joan celebration in Spain.

So today, The fourth of July, 2011. Pretend you’re American and have a party!
